Dickinson State University (DSU) has released its enrollment figures for the spring 2025 semester, revealing a total of 1,410 students. This represents an increase from the previous year's figure of 1,373 students, marking a growth rate of 2.69%. The university attributes this rise to its strong academic offerings and student resources.
Ty Orton, Acting President of DSU, commented on the development: "We are excited to witness this growth in both our full-time enrollment and overall enrollment numbers. This achievement reflects our commitment to supporting DSU's mission of offering diverse academic opportunities and helping students achieve their higher education goal."
The data shows that full-time enrollment rose by 1.31%, with the number of full-time students increasing from 842 in spring 2024 to 853 in spring 2025. There was also a notable increase in credit hours taken by full-time students, up by 3.86% from 1045.57 to 1085.96.
However, transfer student numbers saw a slight decline, with only 47 transfers compared to last year's count of 50. On the other hand, graduate student enrollment increased significantly from eight to twelve students.
First-year student numbers showed remarkable growth as well, with an increase from thirteen to thirty-two students. This trend underscores DSU’s focus on attracting new college entrants through innovative programs and enhanced recruitment efforts.
Early entry enrollment also experienced growth, rising from 273 to 283 students—a gain of 3.56%. This suggests that DSU is successfully drawing interest from prospective students early on.
Holly Gruhlke, Vice President of Academic Affairs/Provost at DSU, expressed optimism about these trends: “We are encouraged by the results, and we view this as an opportunity to learn and further enhance our efforts.” She emphasized the university's dedication to providing accessible and quality education while noting strong interest across various programs.
As the semester progresses, Dickinson State University remains focused on maintaining its upward trajectory and showcasing its distinctive educational offerings.
