Dickinson State University has announced the addition of Stephanie Gerving to its nursing faculty. Gerving, a native of Beach, North Dakota, brings extensive professional experience and a commitment to education.

Gerving began her healthcare journey at the University of North Dakota before transferring to complete her Licensed Practical Nurse certification. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mary. Her professional background includes working as a registered nurse in Dickinson and Fargo, specializing in various areas such as dermatology, maternal-fetal medicine, and women’s and children’s health.

"Knowledge is a precious thing that is meant to be shared," Gerving states. "I’ve always believed in not just telling people what to do but educating them on the why and empowering them to think critically."

Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing, Gerving is focused on enhancing her skills in both nursing and teaching. “This journey is about more than formal instruction. It’s about learning how to engage students in a meaningful way," she explains.

Gerving looks forward to witnessing her first cohort graduate, describing it as "like a proud mom moment." Married to Dr. Mathew Gerving and mother of five, she balances her career with family life and enjoys outdoor activities.

Her personal philosophy is "It’s not easy, just do it," reflecting her determination in nursing education. Dickinson State University anticipates that Gerving's expertise will positively influence its nursing program.
