Dickinson State University (DSU) has announced the addition of Toby Crew as a graduate assistant for its Esports team. Crew, a master's student in sports management, joins DSU from Austin, Texas.

Crew completed his bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Oregon's Honors College. During his time there, he managed the university's gaming club's Overwatch 2 team, an experience that fueled his interest in esports and prepared him for his new role at DSU.

He was attracted to DSU by its supportive and close-knit community. "DSU Esports feels like the exact type of people and community that I look for and thrive in," said Crew. "I've always been a fan of smaller communities because of the potential for closer connections between members."

As an avid gamer, Crew enjoys playing Overwatch 2, Deadlock, Guilty Gear Strive, and Final Fantasy XIV. He is enthusiastic about contributing to the DSU Esports program by fostering a vibrant and competitive environment.

Since arriving on campus, Crew has concentrated on building relationships within the DSU community and recruiting players to strengthen the Esports program. He is dedicated to leading the team positively. “I like to live vicariously through my players' and program's success, so I live for any chance to help make that success happen,” he stated.

Crew envisions a promising future for DSU Esports with an emphasis on individual player development and team growth. He believes that with proper support and shared goals, the program can excel in collegiate competitions and enhance its standing as a varsity-level sport.

DSU expresses excitement over Toby Crew joining their Blue Hawk family and anticipates his positive impact on both the Esports program and campus life.
