Every July 1st, North Dakotans celebrate 701 Day, a tribute to the state's unique area code. The event highlights the close-knit communities and shared pride of North Dakota residents.
Dickinson State University (DSU) takes pride in being part of the 701 community. "For us, 701 Day is more than just a number — it’s a reflection of our identity in this resilient, hardworking, and deeply rooted state," DSU stated. The celebration marks the beginning of summer festivities leading into Independence Day.
Located in southwest North Dakota, Dickinson offers connection and opportunity. Whether exploring downtown or visiting DSU's campus, visitors can expect hospitality and Blue Hawk pride. DSU contributes to regional strength by educating future leaders and partnering with local industries.
Public safety is a priority in Dickinson, thanks to efforts by the Dickinson Police Department and Stark County Sheriff’s Office. This ensures a secure environment for students, families, and visitors.
The natural beauty surrounding DSU adds to its appeal. Proximity to Theodore Roosevelt National Park provides opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and wildlife viewing.
DSU expressed their enthusiasm for the day: "So, from all of us at Dickinson State University — Happy 701 Day! We’re proud to be part of this vibrant region."
