It is the summer break at Dickinson State University (DSU), leading to quieter hallways, but a notable energy filled the campus as Scott Molander commenced his role as the 14th president of the university.

Molander, who graduated from DSU in 1988, returns with extensive business experience and a profound affection for his alma mater. On his first day, while most students are on break, he focused on settling into his office, reconnecting with faculty and staff, and observing the changes on campus since his student days.

“It feels great to be home,” Molander expressed. “There’s something special about walking through these doors again—not as a student this time, but as someone ready to serve this incredible place.”

Although officially taking up the role now, Molander began engaging with the university community following his selection in March. He volunteered time to meet leadership teams, observe daily operations, and immerse himself in campus culture to better support DSU’s growth.

With humor and humility, President Molander’s return signifies not just a new chapter but a full-circle moment for Blue Hawk Nation.
