The DSU Heritage Foundation is preparing to release a new children’s book titled “An Alphabet Book for Little Blue Hawks,” aimed at engaging young fans of Dickinson State University’s football team. The book serves as a companion to “100 Years of DSU Football,” an adult publication anticipated by DSU supporters.

Illustrator Sara Worner and designer Sarah Selle have created a colorful ABC book filled with DSU football traditions and interesting facts. The book introduces children to football terms, emphasizing DSU’s legacy from “A is for Attendance” to “Z is for End Zone.” The aim is to provide an educational journey into the world of DSU football.

Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Dickinson, a sponsor, is integrated into the book. The pages include hidden Coca-Cola logos, forming a “Where’s Waldo?” style activity for children.

“This book is a perfect way to engage young fans and celebrate the legacy of Blue Hawk football,” said Ty Orton, Executive Director of the DSU Heritage Foundation. “From learning the alphabet to discovering fun football tidbits, it’s a book the whole family can enjoy. And with Sara Worner’s stunning artwork, it will be a standout addition to anyone’s library.”

The book is authored by Debora Dragseth, a national award-winning writer and Baker Boy Professor of Leadership at DSU, along with her son Michael Dragseth, a passionate first-grade teacher. Their shared interest in education and DSU football is evident throughout the book.

Set to be published in early summer 2025, “An Alphabet Book for Little Blue Hawks” aims to become a memorabilia piece for families and Blue Hawk football supporters. Preorders will soon be available through the official DSU “100 Years of Football” website.
